The HMS 7th & 8th grade band program is a continuation of your 6th grade band experience. We have a large program with over 240 students and lots of ways for you to participate! Concert Bands are divided by grade level and teams. Rehearsals are every Wednesday during the school day. Concert Band is open to everyone. Wind Ensemble is a teacher selected group of 7th and 8th graders. Rehearsals take place at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesdays beginning in October/November. Big Jazz Band rehearses after school on Thursdays, from December through March until 4:45 p.m. Big Jazz band is open to everyone. Jazz Combo is a teacher selected group. Rehearsals are before school on Fridays, December through March, beginning at 7:45am. Woodwind Choirs which include small groups of flutes, clarinets and saxophones, rehearse before school on various days beginning in January. Woodwind choirs are open to everyone. FAQs How are lessons and band rehearsals scheduled? Just like in the 5th & 6th grades, your lessons are scheduled once a week from your gym period and band is scheduled as a rotating pull-out on Wednesdays.
