It is with great pride that I present an overview of some current information related to the Hillsborough Township Public School District.  The Hillsborough community, recently named one of the top 100 places to live by Money Magazine, is a suburban community of 54 square miles located in Somerset County, New Jersey.  Our district provides a comprehensive educational program to approximately 7500 students within a total of nine schools.  There are six elementary schools (grades K-4), one intermediate school (grades 5 and 6), one middle school (grades 7 and 8) and one high school (grades 9 through 12).

The educational philosophy and goals of the Hillsborough School District are detailed in our current strategic plan.  In the area of instruction and program the district continues to develop and implement comprehensive and rigorous academic programs by developing critical thinking and problem solving skills in our students, by employing curricula relevant and competitive in a global 21^st century world and by providing purposeful and student-centered learning experiences. 

In addition, programs continue to be developed to build a culture of professional development that utilizes a data-driven assessment system and infuses our schools with technology at all instructional levels that will enhance instruction, assessment and mastery of curriculum content.

The district is committed to addressing the needs of each individual learner.  Children have access to a balanced, comprehensive, and sequential program of study in the related arts (visual arts, music, physical education and technology).  The academic and social/emotional needs of each student are carefully monitored, and adjustments and/or enhancements are provided as appropriate.  Programs, including REACH (gifted and talented), basic skills, special education, guidance, and life skills are utilized to meet the unique needs of each student.

We continue to take great pride in the fact that the district puts a significant percentage of its financial resources into classroom instruction, purchasing textbooks and supplies for our children, providing busing for the safety of our students, and offering a wide range of extra and co-curricular activities and programs for the students of Hillsborough Township.  Many of our teachers, students, administrators, and programs continue to receive positive recognition on the local, state and national levels as being among the best. We continually strive for educational excellence.

The parents, students, staff and stakeholders in the Hillsborough community take tremendous pride in our schools.  The community works collaboratively, evidenced by passing our school budget for the past five years, to ensure the success of our curriculum, programs and activities that provide the children of Hillsborough Township with an exceptional pre-K-12 educational experience.
